Scott MacKenzie

Managing Partner

Scott MacKenzie, known throughout the industry as “Mac,” has dedicated more than 30 years to the fire service, building a career centered on advancing firefighter safety through education, innovation, and design in personal protective equipment (PPE).

Mac began his PPE career in 1993 with Lion Apparel, where he served as Southwest Regional Sales Manager for over a decade. In 2003, he was recruited by L.N. Curtis & Sons to lead and develop their PPE program as Director of PPE Sales and Marketing. During his tenure, Mac played a key role in the development and successful launch of the Globe G-Xtreme turnout gear line, helping reestablish Globe as a leader in the industry.

A strong advocate for firefighter safety and standards, Mac and his team pioneered NFPA 1851 training programs across 13 western states. These programs educated fire departments on the critical importance of proper PPE cleaning, care, and maintenance, setting a new benchmark for compliance and safety practices.

Following his time at L.N. Curtis, Mac launched his own consulting business, partnering with manufacturers, rep groups, and fire departments nationwide. His work focused on writing specifications, implementing NFPA 1851 programs, and leading continuing education initiatives. During this period, he was contracted by the Total Fire Group (Morning Pride) for several years and later by Ricochet Manufacturing to develop their first set of structural turnout gear, which debuted at FDIC as the Maximum Mobility “M2” system.
In 2014, Mac joined Stedfast Advanced Barrier Technologies as Western Regional Territory Manager, overseeing 25 western states and further expanding his influence in PPE performance and innovation.
In November 2019, Mac became Managing Partner of Great West Fire & Safety alongside Kaleb Winsheimer. Together, they share a common mission: to bring a more informed, transparent, and cost-effective approach to PPE procurement while continuing to educate moisture management and heat stress management with innovative design and materials to support the fire service.

Mac’s career has been defined by his passion for improving firefighter health and safety. His deep technical expertise, and his commitment in helping departments make a better informed decisions about their protective equipment
