John “JP” Price

With more than six decades of service to the fire service and firefighter safety, John "JP" Price brings unmatched experience, credibility, and passion to the Great West Fire & Safety team.

JP dedicated 36 years to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, retiring as a Captain in 2002. Throughout his career, he also spent 17 years with East Los Angeles College, where he served as Department Head and earned a Lifetime Teaching Credential, helping educate and mentor future firefighters.

His career extended well beyond the fire station. JP served as an engineering consultant on the television series Emergency! and led a Tactical Assistance Crew (TAC) Team at Ground Zero following the September 11 attacks in New York City.

After retiring from the fire service, JP spent more than 20 years working alongside some of the most respected leaders in the PPE industry. Today, he is proud to serve as Brand Ambassador for Great West Fire & Safety, continuing his lifelong mission of supporting firefighters and helping departments make informed PPE decisions.

Despite an extraordinary career, JP still describes himself simply as "a dirty-faced firefighter who fought fires with Ben Franklin and Patrick Henry." When he's not sharing his knowledge with the fire service, he's enjoying life as "El Padrino" to his 20 grandchildren—a title he wears with as much pride as any badge.
