Colin Banks

Colin Banks is retired from the City of Dixon Fire Department, a United States Marine Corps veteran, and dedicated fire service professional with nearly three decades of experience serving first responders. His career has been built on one core principle: providing firefighters with the safest, highest-performing equipment available so they can return home safely after every call.

After serving as an 0351 Assaultman in the United States Marine Corps, Colin earned his Associate Degree in Fire Service Technology from American River College and his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Service Management from Sacramento State University. He then began his fire service career with the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE before retiring from the Dixon Fire Department. His diverse background in wildland and municipal firefighting has given him firsthand experience with the challenges firefighters face in a wide range of operational environments and a deep appreciation for dependable, high-performance protective equipment.

Today, Colin serves as a Factory Representative for FireDex with GR8 West Fire & Safety, partnering with career and volunteer fire departments throughout Northern California. He specializes in firefighter turnout gear, PPE program management, custom sizing, department evaluations, and product demonstrations. His goal is to help departments make informed decisions based on firefighter safety, comfort, performance, and long-term value.

Drawing on his military and fire service experience, Colin understands that properly fitted, high-quality PPE can make a meaningful difference on the fireground. He works closely with departments to evaluate their needs and build turnout configurations that maximize protection, mobility, and durability.
Colin is passionate about educating firefighters on emerging PPE technologies, PFAS-free solutions, thermal protection, heat stress reduction, and the latest innovations in firefighter safety. Whether conducting station visits, leading wear trials, or presenting to command staff, he is committed to providing honest recommendations, responsive service, and long-term support.
